Paratha

Paratha is a type of flatbread, originating from India. It that is made from a dough with butter/ghee and gently pan-fried. There are many different types of paratha and can range from being filled with delicious spicy savoury delights such as spinach, paneer, chicken and meat to a simple plain bread, which can be dipped into tea or eaten by itself. It is most delicious hand-made from scratch, but frozen-ready made ones as just as good and is perfect for a quick breakfast or as a snack in-between meals.

Alia shared this paratha brunch with me the other day. The parathas are gently heated in a dry pan and puff up when done. It is great with 'halwa' or eaten just as it is. They ate this quite a lot during Ramadan, as a light breakfast before fasting. The ready-made parathas are easy and quick to prepare, but mum's hand-made ones are much better!

 Halwa: semolina, butter, sugar

Simple, light and tasty
